Summer Soiree Series

Summer Soiree Series 2017

Build a Better Burger!
Friday, July 28, 5:00-8:00 pm
Fischer Volleyball Court

Anyone can grill a burger, but we’re inviting you to build a BETTER burger. We’ll start with the best fresh ground beef and have every topping imaginable – bacon, cheese, avocado, chili, jalapenos, and so much more! And for our non-carnivores, we’ll have marinated portabella mushrooms, too.

DTSB First Fridays
Friday, August 4, 5:00-8:50 p.m.
CJ's Pub (map)

We'll meet at CJs for appetizers on Grad Life, then explore the offerings of DTSB First Fridays Arts Alive! Free parking is available at the parking garage next door after 5:00 pm.

Picnic & Canoeing
Thursday, August 10, 4:00-8:00 p.m.
Potato Creek State Park (map)

Come join us at Potato Creek State Park for an evening of boating, picnicking, and beach time. We'll cover your entrance fee and canoe rental and we'll grill the food; you enjoy the great outdoors with great friends! ALL graduate students, postdocs, and their guests (spouses, children, friends) are welcome.

Here are links to the official park map and to a map marked with our event locations.

River Lights with Mayor Pete
Tuesday, August 15, 8:00-10:50 p.m.
Century Center in Downtown South Bend (map)

Join us for an evening reception with South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg and other local leaders. We'll enjoy some delicious desserts while overlooking the River Lights exhibit, and learn about all our fair city has to offer. Although this is also an event for Graduate Orientation, ALL graduate students, postdocs, and their guests (spouses, friends) are welcome.  A cash bar will be available for those of legal drinking age, so please bring ID if you plan to imbibe. Parking is available at the Century Center.

The Summer Soiree Series is hosted by the Graduate School and Graduate Student Life in partnership with the Graduate Student Union, Campus Ministry, and the Fischer O'Hara-Grace Graduate Residences.
