Everyone has different needs when it comes to study environments.  Whether you thrive on being surrounded by noise in a coffee shop, collaborating in a group setting, or sitting in silence at your own desk, there is an ideal location for you.  Below are lists of study spaces available to make sure you can be productive in your ideal environment.

If you have a favorite spot that's not on our list, please share it with us!

Libraries

The main library of Notre Dame is the fourteen-story Hesburgh Library. Most floors of the library offer quiet study areas, including the second floor Reading Room, the Lower Level, and the recently renovated 10th floor. Those working in groups or those who prefer to have some background noise can utilize one of the numerous study spots on the first floor of the building. There is also a Graduate Student Lounge located on the 9th floor of Hesburgh, for which you can get the door code from the GSU office in LaFortune or at the Hesburgh front desk.

On some days, renovations may make Hesburgh a little too loud to be productive, but there are plenty of other libraries on campus to meet your studying needs!

*Note that summer hours will be in effect for all libraries until the first day of class. Check out the Hesburgh Library website for the latest information, which also contains a list of links to view the current hours of the branch libraries.
